Australian Labradoodles

History

Australian Labradoodles were initially bred to provide allergy and asthma friendly service dogs. Their popularity has rapidly increased (is it any wonder!) and nowadays they can be found in family homes and in service around the world. They are very sociable animals and love being with their people. They are extremely intelligent, taking their problem-solving ability from the Poodle and their willingness to please from the Labrador. They have excellent temperaments and are wonderful in young family situations. As they are so clever, they require lots of mental stimulation and appropriate training from a young age. This means that they are not suited to full-time workers.

Australian Labradoodles have six parent breeds:

• Labrador Retriever
• Poodle (all sizes)
• English Cocker Spaniel
• American Cocker Spaniel
• Irish Water Spaniel
• Curly Coat Retriever

These breeds were infused over many years by the founders of the breed to create what is now known as the Multi Generation Australian Labradoodle.
