Coat Colour

Silver Australian Labradoodles are born black, but usually have some sprinkling of another colour throughout the coat, or indeed some white tints in between their toes. Over a period of one to three years, they fade to a shade between light pewter and dark charcoal, but maintain the black nose pigmentation. Ideally the coat is an even colour throughout, but uneven layering of colour in the coat is acceptable and in fact, quite beautiful.

It can be difficult to predict whether or not an apparently black puppy will hold its colour, or turn silver, but those with sprinkling and white tints between the toes are more likely to fade. Although we don’t have any silver Australian Labradoodles in our programme, we do produce them from time to time in our litters.
